MILD WINTER IN NORTH INDIA’

This was the headline of yesterday’s newspaper.

When we call our earth our mother then why do we forget that as a living being, she needs to breathe and breathe well? How come we cannot see the tears which she sheds in the form of melting polar ice? How long will we try its patience before she bogs down under the burden of pollution? She who gives fresh and clean air to all of us, is feeling choked with smoke, dirt and toxic chemicals. This also leads to increase in temperature that isGLOBAL WARMING’. What Global Warming actually means? The green house gases (mainly CO2 and CH4) trap the heat (infra red radiations) reflected by the earth. This heats up the atmosphere which leads to increase in earth’s temperature. This phenomenon is called Global Warming which occurs due to green house effect. It is of mainly deforestation. Other reasons can be increasing content of harmful and poisonous gases in atmosphere with rapid increase in indutrialisation, Global Warming is also increasing. Global Warming is of course a grim reality which can’t be ignored. The effect of Global Warming on polar ice caps, oceans, wildlife, vegetation and human beings is obviously negative. Our whole ecosystem is disturbed. It is we who have defiled our holy earth. We only must find a solution to all its ills. The world community needs to cut across political boundaries for global action to control the gigantic problem of global pollution. The need of hour is to keep the quality of air, water, land and environment free from pollution. The rich and diverse flora and fauna of the earth must be preserved at any cost. Otherwise we and ourMOTHER EARTH’ will cease to exist.
