Soil type and vegetation

Just like different animals live in different climates successfully , plants too show special adaptive features for the type of soil they grow in.

Plants growing in sandy soil have long roots that go deep in search of water . Their leaves are reduced to spines of water . Their leaves are reduced to spines to prevent water loss. Their stems are succulent to store water and are green to carry out photosynthesis . Cacti are the best examples of these types of plants.

The plants that grow in soil rich in clay develop long tap roots to loosen the soil particles . The soil is loosened for aeration and prevent clumping . Loamy soil is the best for plants .All types of plants grow well in this soil.
